Topic: SNA for the 21st Century – Implementing Enterprise Extende
Level: Intermdiate
While IBM i will continue to support SNA, the new I/O adapters will support TCP/IP only. Additionally, IBM i 6.1 is the last release to support AnyNet® and the current version of z/OS® communications server drops support for AnyNet connections. If you connect to mainframes or other systems using SNA, it is
very likely these factors will impact you. This session will review the considerations you should use when evaluating the impact of these changes on your environment and present the options available to you.
This may include moving away from SNA or simply planning for the use of the Enterprise Extender (EE) function to continue with SNA. We will also cover the considerations involved if you decide to move away from SNA. The steps required to configure Enterprise Extender between systems, how to move existing
SNA connections to Enterprise Extender and Network Address Translation issues with EE will be covered.
