Topic: VIOS for IBM i Administrators – Setup and Configuration

Level: Introduction

IBM i 6.1 includes new support to use hosted disk from "Virtual I/O Server" (VIOS) or other IBM i partitions. VIOS is also used when you run i on Blade servers. In this session we will explain the steps required to set up VIOS to host the disk and networking for a guest OS. We will match the steps and commands we use in VIOS with the similar commands used when hosting a guest with IBM i.

Prerequisite: It is recommended that you attend the session “IBM i in a Virtualized Environment: IBM i as a Hosting Server” session or have some familiarity with how IBM i provides virtualized storage for Linux,
AIX or Windows.
